From New York to New Mexico is a full spectrum exhibition – from the early years in Manhattan, to the middle years in England, to current work from New Mexico.

As a young, dynamic artist in Manhattan (1969 – 1987), Ami converged with the power and passion of the feminist art stream and the vibrant and radical jazz culture – an intensity and potency that resonated with her own – and was an opening to an acknowledgment of cultural and economic challenges. The racial and gender unrest and injustice worked on her young soul – and were essential rites of passage. Music and art were ways for her to enter into the questions and conflicts in a way that is true for her – arising from a creative core oriented toward beauty and harmony.

Her art investigates the unseen worlds of generative forces, formative forces, and the crystal grids underlying the energy constellations that condense into form – including the human form and expression. Two images from 1971 were seminal: one was a microscopic picture of the tip of a platinum needle; the second was of a Tantric Buddhist Sri Yantra showing the frequency patterns of diminishing harmonics – the harmonics of OM.

She experimented with grids, shifting patterns of light and movement, generative archetypes, the interplay of expansion and contraction, and luminous colors.

Motherhood and eighteen years in England were two more rites of passage for ongoing development and integration of previously unrecognized dimensions. The youth-fuelled energy expanded to include personal and planetary ecology.

Earlier work played primarily with altered states of conscious awareness. Since 2000, her work has expanded to include conscious soul expression – subtle, luminous watercolours that embody the alchemy of the human soul dimensions.

Current focuses include devotional art and the essence of intimate encounter: human being with human being; human being with spiritual being; the World Soul with the Human Soul.

Recent projects include: stone sculpting; woodcarving; stained glass panels; a Grail table; a Sophianic triptych; paintings for a 2014 soul calendar; and a series of star mantles where the artistic narrative of the zodiac will be on the inner lining of flowing capes.
